Kalmykova N.S., Matveev S.V. Use of heat of liquid steel in ferrous metallurgy: state of the question

In the work on the basis of the literary review the existing technologies of steel casting in machines of continuous steel casting, their heat-power characteristics are considered, the directions of use of thermal energy taken away from steel are analyzed. As a result, the direction for the use of heat removal from steel with the help of liquid metal heat carriers was found. The dependence of the workpiece thickness on the speed of steel casting and the length of steel production is studied. The mathematical model of steel cooling process by liquid metal heat carriers is developed. The main power plants for electricity generation are considered. To solve this problem, a steam turbine cycle was chosen. An energy-saving scheme of using the heat of cast steel to generate electricity using a steam turbine cycle has been developed. The organic Rankine cycle was chosen as a simplified version of the modernization of the current scheme. A mathematical model is developed to determine the flow rate and thermophysical parameters of the cycle of working bodies of the organic Rankine cycle depending on the species.
