The article represents possibilities of using liquid steel warmth for heating and melting metal scrap over an intermediate heat medium. A temperature chart of a heat exchange between the cooling liquid steel, the chosen heat medium and the heating up steel scrap under the ideal thermal dynamical conditions is made. The necessary masses of the heat medium and also the amount of the melted metal scrap are calculated.
